Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about converting HEIC files? You're in the right place. We get asked these things a lot, so here are the answers.

Is my data safe? Do you upload my files to your servers?

Nope. Your files stay right on your device. Everything happens in your browser - we never see your photos. It's basically like having Photoshop running locally, but for HEIC conversion. Actually, that's exactly what it is.

Can I use this converter offline?

Yep! Once you visit the site, it caches everything you need. Turn off your WiFi and it still works. We built it as a Progressive Web App, which is a fancy way of saying it acts like a real app.

What file formats are supported?

HEIC and HEIF files go in. JPG or WebP comes out. Those are the formats iPhones use by default, and most modern cameras too. If your file has a .heic extension, we can handle it.

Is there a file size or quantity limit?

You can do 100 files at once, each up to 100 MB. That's pretty generous - most phone photos are way smaller. And there's no daily limit or anything annoying like that.

Does the converter preserve image quality?

You control that. Quality slider goes from 20% to 100%. We default to 85% because it looks great and keeps file sizes reasonable. But if you want maximum quality, crank it up to 100%.

What happens to EXIF data and GPS information?

We strip it out by default. That includes GPS coordinates, camera info, all that stuff. Privacy first. However, if you need that data for some reason, there's a setting to keep it.

Why is HEIC to JPG conversion necessary?

HEIC is great - smaller files, better quality. But try uploading one to an old website or sharing with Android users. Doesn't work. JPG is the universal format that works everywhere.

How fast is the conversion process?

Usually 1-5 seconds per file. Depends on your device though. Newer phones and computers are obviously faster. We process multiple files at once, so batches don't take forever.

Do I need to install any software?

No downloads. Just open the website. Though you can 'install' it as an app if you want - there's usually a button in your browser for that. Makes it feel more app-like.

Is this service free to use?

Completely free. No accounts, no subscriptions, no credit card required. We show some ads to keep the lights on, but they're not intrusive. At least we try not to be.
